swissmiss | Real or Just a Ride?

The World is like a in an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it you think it’s , because that’s how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round, and it has thrills and chills and is very brightly colored, and it’s very loud. And it’s fun, for a while.

Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they’ve begun to question, ‘Is this real, or is this just a ride?’, and other people have remembered, and they’ve come back to us and they say ‘Hey, don’t worry. Don’t be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride.’ and we KILL THOSE PEOPLE.

“Shut him up! We have alot invested in this ride! SHUT HIM UP! Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account, and my . This just has to be real.”

It’s just a ride.

But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that. You ever noticed that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn’t matter, because … It’s just a ride.

And we can change it anytime we want. It’s only a choice. No effort, no , no , no savings of money. A choice, right now, between and . The eyes of wants you to put bigger locks on your door, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love, instead see all of us as one.

Here’s what we can do to change the world right now, to a better ride:

Take all that money we spent on weapons and defense each year and instead spend it feeding, clothing, and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded, and WE CAN EXPLORE SPACE, TOGETHER, BOTH INNER AND OUTER, forever … in peace.

—Bill Hicks (1961 – 1994)

When Working Right is More Important than Finding the Right Work»

Finding in your is a complicated, ambiguous, confusing process — a process that defies simple answers like “follow your ” or “reject conformity.”

Thomas’ story, however, emphasizes that when battling these complicated issues you can do so from a simple, solid foundation: the recognition that working right must precede worries about finding the right work. There’s no magic formula to working right (I think Elizabeth’s approach provides a good start, but there’s certainly many ways forward). What seems to be important, however, is making sure that you own your work before allowing the allure of hypothetical dream jobs own you.

“No matter what kind of work I do or where I live in the world, I realized that I am the same person with the same set of likes and dislikes,” Thomas told me. No new can change these realities. That effort is up to you.

“Use What Talents You Have”

…”The woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang best.” This from poet Henry Van Dyke reminds us not to waste our talents or get discouraged if others are more accomplished or talented.

Have you ever stopped yourself from doing something (making an app, writing a blog, setting up a business, etc.) because that specific thing has already been done by someone else successfully? Consider this: if everyone was deterred that way, the world would be a lot blander than it is now.

Use your talents, whatever they may be. Your doesn’t have to be better than everyone else’s; it just needs to be yours.
