According to the Chinese Lunar calendar, 2013 marks the year of the snake and began on February 10th. In Singapore, photographer Choo Yut Shing took this fantastic overheard capture of a snake lantern sculpture made from 850 yellow sky lanterns.
The snake stretches about 300 meters (984.5 ft) from the junction of Upper Cross Street and South Bridge Road to Sago Street in Singapore’s Chinatown district.

On the eve of the Lunar New Year on January 22, 2012, performers in traditional garb strutted their stuff with a boisterous dragon dance in Beijing, China, while large crowds watched.

The gaping maw of a ferocious dragon serves as an archway for the upcoming Lunar New Year festivities to be held at a park in Chengdu in Sichuan province, China. The Year of the Dragon kicks off on January 23, 2012, and dragon motifs and sculptures are expected to sprout throughout China in the coming days.

Workers have erected a massive dragon installation comprised of over 3,000 lanterns at Yongdingmen Square Park in Beijing, China. During a test run on January 9, 2012, the lanterns were tested to ensure that they’d light up for the beginning of the Lunar New Year celebrations which start on January 23, 2012.

The first rising sun of 2012 appears above Mt. Fuji, observed at Yamanashi prefecture on January 1, 2012. All Nippon Airways (ANA) had organized a rising sun observation flight with 137 passengers on New Year’s Day.
